PolyHinge: Shape Changing TUI with Affordance Assistance

 

This Project was submitted into UIST 2015

This is an experiment project under the System Projects: Actuated TUI: Theory and Key Technologies. Based on a mathematical rule that oneĀ polygon can change its shape by cutting and rotation into another polygon, we designed that kind of robot.

We explored the potential of the robot in different functions in position detection, gesture detection, AR controls, Tangible Controls, entertainments both in single-player and multiplayers. Based on that, we detailed take research on the users’ study, trying to explore the potential and the dynamic behind Actuated TUI.
